Known as Beograd in Serbian, Belgrade is located at a strategic spot on the Balkan Peninsula, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers in south-eastern Europe. Tours in Belgrade you should take include the Military Musuem in Kalemegdan, which houses about 40000 exhibits, including parts of a US Stealth bomber. The museum's exhibits date from the past to the time of the NATO bombing. The fortress at Kalemegdan is also home to the Citadel Museum and the Belgrade Zoo. There are many things to see and do in Belgrade. The Kneza Mihaila is an ancient Roman road that is a major pedestrian thoroughfare now. It is packed with terrace cafés and has Kalemegdan on one end and Trg Republike and the National Museum on the other. Trg Republike is one of Belgrade's major attractions - a square that is the site of the National Museum. The museum has three floors packed with relics from Serbian history and was opened in 1844.
